On The Edge is a collaboration between Joe Martin and world-renowned psycologist Dr. Jon Carlson. Dr. Carlson came up with the idea for the panel by using Joe's comics to help his patients. After several years of development, the feature was launched and immediately picked up by newspapers like the San Diego Union Tribune and Orange County Register for their health sections.

Dr. Carlson has written more than 40 books and 150 jouranal articles. He has also done more than 200 videos/DVD's for the American Psycchological Association. In 2004 he was named one of five "Living Legends of Counseling" by the ASA.

He is a regular on Chicago's WGN TV Morning News, and has an upcomin appearance on the Today Show with Matt Lauer on February 6, 7, and 8 as their "Relationship Expert".
